Under agriculture theme Sumitra Sansthan is implementing Sodic Land Reclamation project in 200 villages of Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh with the support of Uttar Pradesh Bhoomi Sudhar Nigam. It is World Bank funded project. Since 2012, the organisation is implementing this project towards enhancing livelihood status of the target groups through different activities. The organisation has reached among 3,000 poor and marginal farmers through this project.
So far 292 self-help groups have been formed and linked with banks for cash credit limits. The SHG members have started income generation activities. The SHGs have also been linked with Rashtriya Mahila Kosh for loaning so their members can opt for income enhancement.
The organisation has formed five producer companies in the project areas. These producer companies are engaged in sale of agricultural inputs. Many members associated with the companies have started goat rearing and other income generating activities.
